Although these practice sessions are meant to be enjoyable, they do have a purpose beyond this. They are there so that we can share knowledge and increase our enjoyment of the game over the longer term and to provide an outlet for those who want a more tactical experience beyond what we already receive from server 1 as well as acclimatising those who are new.
They take a good deal of preparation and coordination and you can help us out in the following ways:
Read the sign up thread thoroughly. You will then know what to expect and can prepare by doing some extra reading if you so wish. It will provide you with the links to make sure you know where it will be held and when and will allow you to make sure you have your communications set up properly. BF2 is heavily dependent on VOIP and TS is critical for coordination. Please help us out by making sure that everything is working before the practice session. This way we maximise the time we have.
Be prompt. This will allow us to assess numbers and plan accordingly. It also allows everyone to know what is going on and stops repitition of plans for latecomers. If you do find that you are late, announce your presence on TeamSpeak and an instructor will integrate you into the practice session.
Pay attention to Drill Instructor requests. Certain exercises require specific terrain or kits and five minutes spent trying to get people to move is five minutes wasted. If a DI asks you to do something it is for a reason. Please comply quickly and you will find things move a lot more smoothly.
Friendly fire. I know standing next to your virtual buddy with a machine gun for any length of time produces a strong urge to mow him down Butch and Sundance style. Please refrain though. That’s another fifteen seconds we have to wait until a drill can start and your brief enjoyment means frustration for others. The same goes for ammo packs/med packs/grenades/C4 and fring randomly into the sky. It may seem harmless but it is a distraction to others and can make it hard to hear comms. Where possible brief recesses will be scheduled so that you can gun anything you like and let rip before the next disciplined segment. If there are no such opportunities just keep your finger off the trigger. You will contribute greatly to what can be achieved and the enjoyment of others.
We thank you in advance for helping us to make this session both productive and enjoyable.
